In my opinion, after good skincare, foundation is the second most important step in my makeup routine. Being prone to acne and having the horrible habit of picking my pimples, I just can’t live without it. It is really the base of your makeup look. So you have to make sure you pick the right color, the right undertone, the right finish, the right formula… I know it’s a lot of things to think about!
I wear different foundations for different occasions. During the day, I usually mix my moisturizer with my Maybelline Fit Me. This allows me to have a natural looking makeup look, yet still hide imperfections like acne marks. When I go out, I prefer full coverage, and usually I go for the Lancôme Teint Idole. So here is top 4:
Lancome Teint Idole is an oil-free, long-wearing, liquid foundation, I absolute love the coverage and the matte finish it gives me. This foundation lasts all day, when they say 24 hours, it is no joke. It does clog my pores or break me out, this is the perfect formula for oily skin. And it is available in 40 shades, I love that Lancôme is so inclusive and thinks about us dark girls. My shade is 550 C suede.
Milani Conceal + Perfect is my favorite drugstore foundation, the coverage is flawless, it is water-resistant and is a foundation plus concealer in one. It always has my skin looking perfect. I also love the pump applicator, I am very clumsy and I am always spilling things, so the pump is great. This foundation comes in 19 shades, my shade is #14 Golden Toffee.
Maybelline Fit Me Matte & Poreless is another great drugstore foundation brand that works very well for me, it minimizes my pores and helps my skin stay matte. It is my go to day foundation, most of the time I mix it with my moisturizer to have a makeup no makeup look. It does not clog pores and is oil-free, and comes in 32 shades. My shade is Deep Golden 368.
Last but certainly not least Mac Matchmaster I love this foundation because it really has a beautiful semi-dewy finish. It helps control my oil production and has an SPF 15 protection. I usually wear it during the colder months because I wear their darkest shade, and since I get darker during summer (yes we tan), I have to switch to a darker shade. They come in 12 shades, mine is 9.0.
